1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Split ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Split Mobile is a shared expense platform that helps users create, collect, track, and reimburse real-world group expenses, including receipts, rent, trips, events, productions, shared purchases, manual expenses, and recurring or shared expenses. Hosts can scan or import receipts, manually create expenses, assign amounts, invite guests by secure payment link, collect funds into a Split wallet, and request supported withdrawals or payouts. The Service includes AI-powered calculations, wallet balances, and supported withdrawals or payouts through third-party payment partners.

Split Mobile provides software and payment coordination tools for documented shared expenses. Split is not intended for unrelated peer-to-peer money transfers, cash advances, artificial transaction volume, remittances, or general money movement unrelated to a legitimate shared expense.

Split Mobile is not a bank, escrow service, money transmitter, lender, or credit provider, and does not guarantee payment, reimbursement, payout timing, or the outcome of any dispute.

3. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate and complete information.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that expenses you create are accurate, legitimate, and connected to a real shared expense.
  • You will not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • You will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.

4. Guest Payment Links

Guests may pay through secure payment links without creating a full Split Mobile account. By using a payment link, guests agree that their payment may be processed by Split Mobile's third-party payment partners and may be subject to verification, review, refund, reversal, dispute, chargeback, and payment partner rules.

5. Payments, Wallet, and Withdrawals

Split facilitates guest payments, wallet balances, and supported withdrawals or payouts through third-party financial providers. You acknowledge that these transactions are subject to the terms and conditions of those third-party providers.

Standard bank withdrawals typically take 3–5 business days to process. Weekends, bank holidays, payment partner reviews, bank processing times, failed bank details, security reviews, disputes, chargebacks, or compliance checks may delay availability or delivery of funds. Split Mobile does not guarantee same-day or instant withdrawals unless an eligible faster payout option is specifically offered and confirmed at the time of use.

6. Manual Expenses, Receipts, and Supporting Documentation

Users are responsible for ensuring that all expenses created on Split Mobile are accurate, legitimate, and connected to a real shared expense.

Manual expenses, larger transactions, unusual transaction patterns, rent-related expenses, event expenses, production expenses, or other higher-risk activity may require supporting documentation. Acceptable documentation may include:

  • Valid receipts
  • Invoices
  • Rental statements
  • Leases
  • Proof of purchase
  • Booking confirmations
  • Event or production invoices
  • Other documents reasonably requested by Split Mobile or its payment partners

Failure to provide requested documentation may result in delayed payouts, declined withdrawals, refunds, reversals, account restrictions, or permanent account closure.

7. Fees

Split Mobile does not charge a subscription or paywall to use the core platform. Standard bank withdrawals are free. Optional faster payout, card-related, or financial features, if available, may include fees that will be disclosed before use.

8. Prohibited Activities and Acceptable Use

Users may not pay themselves, attempt to pay themselves through another account, use their own payment method through another user account, coordinate with another person to cycle funds back to themselves, create artificial transaction volume, or use Split Mobile to access cash, generate rewards, manufacture card points, or disguise unrelated money transfers.

Split Mobile may review, restrict, reverse, refund, or decline any transaction that appears to involve self-payment, artificial volume, cash-advance behavior, collusion, suspicious manual entries, or activity inconsistent with legitimate shared expenses.

The following uses are prohibited on Split Mobile:

  • General peer-to-peer transfers unrelated to shared expenses
  • Cash advances
  • Self-payments
  • Artificial transaction volume
  • Rewards or points manufacturing
  • Money laundering
  • Fraud
  • Remittances
  • Gift cards or cash equivalents
  • Cryptocurrency transactions
  • Gambling
  • Illegal goods or services
  • High-risk or unsupported transactions
  • Transactions with strangers where there is no legitimate shared expense
  • Resale or marketplace transactions unless explicitly supported
  • Any activity that violates payment partner rules

9. Risk Reviews and Account Restrictions

Split Mobile and its payment partners may monitor transactions and account activity for risk, fraud, misuse, disputes, chargebacks, sanctions, compliance, and platform safety.

Split Mobile may delay, pause, restrict, reverse, refund, or decline payments, payouts, withdrawals, or account access when activity appears unusual, high-risk, unsupported, disputed, fraudulent, non-compliant, or inconsistent with normal shared expense behavior.

Account restrictions may remain in place while a transaction, withdrawal, refund, dispute, chargeback, payment method, identity review, or supporting documentation is being reviewed.

10. Refunds, Reversals, and Chargebacks

Refunds may be issued back to the original payment method when a transaction is declined, reversed, restricted, disputed, flagged, or determined to violate these Terms or platform policies.

Once a refund has been submitted to the payment partner or original payment method, it may not be possible to cancel or reverse the refund. Refund timing depends on the card issuer, bank, payment network, or payment provider and may take several business days or longer.

If a guest disputes, reverses, or charges back a payment, the host or recipient may remain responsible for the amount, fees, losses, penalties, costs, or negative balance associated with that payment, even if the host has already withdrawn funds.

11. Card and Virtual Card Features

Any current or future card-related features, including virtual cards where available, are subject to eligibility, approval, spending limits, funding rules, merchant restrictions, payment partner requirements, and additional terms. Card-related features may not be available to all users.

12. Relationship With Payment Partners

Payments, payouts, withdrawals, refunds, reversals, disputes, identity checks, fraud review, bank connectivity, and compliance checks may be handled by third-party payment partners. These partners may impose their own limits, timelines, reviews, holds, requirements, and restrictions, and Split Mobile may be required to follow their decisions or requirements.

Split Mobile is not responsible for delays caused by banks, card issuers, card networks, ACH operators, payment processors, or payment partners.

13. Support and Enforcement

Split Mobile's review or approval of one transaction does not guarantee approval of future transactions.

Providing documentation does not guarantee approval, but may help Split Mobile verify the legitimacy of a transaction. Split Mobile may request additional information at any time to determine whether activity complies with these Terms.

14. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Split, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

Split Mobile does not guarantee payment, reimbursement, payout timing, or the outcome of any dispute, chargeback, or review.

15. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and bar access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, under our sole discretion, for any reason whatsoever and without limitation, including for activity that violates these Terms or payment partner rules.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect.
